Dr. Peter Cripton wins Dean’s Excellence in Service Award

Congratulations Dr. Peter Cripton on winning the Dean’s Excellence in Service Award! The award recognizes outstanding service and contributions to the Faculty of Applied Science in each of the following categories: Faculty, Management & Professional Staff, Secretarial & Clerical Staff, and Technical Staff. One of three faculty recipients this year, Dr. Cripton was presented with the award at the Applied Science Appreciation Barbeque on June 23, 2015. Dean Marc Parlange presented the award with the following remarks:

A member of the Mechanical Engineering department for more than 10 years, Peter Cripton is a natural leader who with each passing year has assumed greater responsibility for departmental administration. While still an assistant professor, Peter took the initiative to improve PhD qualifying exam procedures, meeting with an ad hoc committee to discuss changes. The proposals suggested by the committee remain in effect today, thanks to Peter’s careful guidance. Peter’s selfless dedication is evident in the many times he has graciously taken on new roles to further the faculty and department’s missions. Not only is his research and teaching of the highest caliber, Peter is an outstanding colleague who happily and effectively engages in major service activities for both the department and the faculty.
