The thesis-based M.A.Sc is a traditional research-based degree. The program normally takes two years of full time study, includes a total of thirty credits, research under the supervision of a faculty member and a thesis. The Master of Applied Science is the recommended course of study for students who may be interested in eventually pursuing a Ph.D.
Students have the option of taking their M.A.Sc in Mechanical Engineering, selecting one of four research areas or taking their M.A.Sc in the Biomedical Program (BMEG). More information about these research areas and the Biomedical Engineering Program is found below:

Students taking their M.A.Sc also are able to take a sub-specialization in Engineering Management.
