“In its twelfth year, the UBC Steel Bridge Design Team is an extra-curricular club that attracts civil engineering students of all years and backgrounds. This year the team consists of several first and second year students curious to learn about the design process and the competition, as well as a number of returning senior students (including a few masters students too).
The team provides students the opportunity to apply their technical knowledge from the classroom to a unique design challenge, as well as a chance to foster relationships with other students in their program and professionals within the industry. From previous experiences, our goal this year is to design our bridge to be lighter and easier to construct in an aim to once again qualify for Nationals and beat last year’s performance.”
