Special VGH Lab Tours

For the first time, we will be offering a special opportunity to tour our biomedical labs at VGH. These include the following:
Unfortunately, all spots for this tour have been filled. We apologize for this, and will try to have more space available in future occurrences.
8:30 am – 9:30 am: VGH Biomedical Lab Open House – Robert H.N. Ho Research Centre
Those attending (RSVP required, see above) should aim to arrive at 8:15 am as people will be divided into two groups of 8. Each group will get a chance to tour both iCORD and CHHM.
9:30 am – 11:30 am: Sign-In – CEME 2207
Start your Imagine Day by signing in at Club Mech, located in CEME 2207. Sign-in will be open from 9:30 am – 11:30 am. Meet your new Club Mech Executives, sign in (student card required), get your lunch ticket, and get a scavenger hunt list.
10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Mechanical Lab Open House – Various Engineering Laboratories
Once signed in all undergraduate and graduate mechanical students are invited to visit the mechanical engineering labs open house. Information on which labs to visit and maps for directions will be available during sign-in located in Club Mech and at www.mech.ubc.ca. Participants can tour the labs at their leisure and are welcome to particpate in a scavenger hunt to win fabulous prizes.
Note: Due to safety regulations in certain laboratories, please remember to wear enclosed toe shoes! Steel-toed shoes are required for some labs.
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm: Mech Welcome Back BBQ – Between CEME and the EDC
Open to all graduate and undergraduate mechanical students, faculty and Staff. Meet some of your mechanical engineering faculty as they serve you a hotdog lunch and get a chance to catch up with colleagues. Tickets are required and will be availble that day during sign-in at Club Mech from 9:30 am – 11:30 pm. A Vegetarian option will be available.
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Grad School and NSERC PGS/CGS Information Session – CHBE 101
Interested in Grad school? Open to all interested undergraduate students from mechanical engineering and related departments. Learn about what graduate school is, and how to get in, from a current research professor. Learn about the application process, how to make yourself stand out as an applicant, and more.
2:30 pm – 3:00 pm: Grad Fair – CHBE Lobby
2:30 pm – 3:30 pm: Undergraduate Research Opportunities and NSERC USRA – CHBE 103
Want to jumpstart your career with mechanical engineering research? All interested undergraduate students from mechanical engineering and related departments are invited to this information session to learn what opportunities are available for undergraduates interested in research and get some tips on how to become an undergraduate student researcher. Learn about NSERC USRAs, work study, MECH 493: Introduction to Academic Research and more.
