Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) program is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by supporting students who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health-related fields. Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and international students are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier Scholarship, which is valued at $50,000 per year for up to three years.

Application deadline: 12 noon (PDT – Vancouver time) on Thursday, 3 September 2020.

  • In addition to completing the application on ResearchNet, applicants are required to submit official transcripts and Doctoral Studies Timeline form to by the above deadline. Please refer to the “Application Procedures” section from the below link for more information about the requirements.
    • Given current uncertainties related to COVID-19 and the difficulty of obtaining/processing paper transcripts, it is recommended that applicants order official transcripts that can be sent electronically from their previous institutions to UBC, rather than by mail, where possible.
    • New requirement for 2020: Vanier requires applicants to submit a Doctoral Studies Timeline form (submitted to the UBC graduate program).  Please see our webpage for more information.
