Call for Nomination: John Tiedje Fellowships in Clean Energy and Greenhouse Gas Mitigation

Two graduate fellowships of $20,000 each have been made available through an endowment established by Dorothy Tiedje in memory of John Tiedje (BASc 1944, MASc 1945). The fellowships are awarded to Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are enrolled in a MASc or PhD Program in the Faculty of Applied Science, and who have achieved a first-class average or better in the most recent two years of full-time study. Fellowships will be awarded to students whose research will help create and maintain a healthy environment, with preference for research developing clean and renewable energy, advancing the electrification of the economy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, or improving the efficiency of energy utilization. Eligibility:

  • MASc/PhD students (including incoming students) in APSC
  • First-class average or better in the most recent two years of full-time study Research on clean energy and greenhouse gas mitigation

Application Procedure:

  • Students can’t apply for this fellowship on their own. Faculty members need to submit nomination packages to Clean Energy Research Centre directly on behalf of the students.
  • Please include all the required documents for nomination in one single pdf and send to sarah@cerc.ubc.ca by August 9, 2021

    • Nomination letter
    • CV of the student
    • Transcripts of most recent two years of full-time study
    • Two supporting letters
