The province of British Columbia has funded BC Graduate Scholarships (BCGS) in any field of study, with emphasis on research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, and support for Indigenous students.

Scholarship Value:
- $17,500 for one year
Eligibility:
- Must be Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents
- Must be a full-time registered student in a research-based Mechanical Engineering graduate program (MASc & PhD) throughout Sept 2025 – Aug 2026 academic year
- Please note: Students who hold another major awards during the Sept 2025-Aug 2026 academic year will not be eligible for the BCGS awards competition. If you are uncertain about your eligibility, please send an email to admissions@mech.ubc.ca.
Application components:
- BCGS application form (Microsoft Word, PDF)
- Resume/CV
- Official transcripts for all post-secondary studies outside UBC
- If you’ve submitted them to G+PS to clear your admission conditions, we should have the documents on file. In this case, you don’t need to re-submit them. Please send an email to admissions@mech.ubc.ca for confirmation that we have access to your documents.
- You do not need to submit UBC transcripts
- Two reference letters – Please have your referees send the letters directly to admissions@mech.ubc.ca
