Dr. Luca Dal Zilio, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) Seminar – Dr. Luca Dal Zilio | Modeling Poromechanics in Earthquake and Faulting Phenomena

12 June 2025 5:00 pm
  • Venue: CEME 2202
  • Categories: Public, Seminar, Students
  • Tags: Structural Matter Seminar

Understanding strain localization and fault slip in earthquake systems requires insight into the coupled processes of fluid flow and deformation in porous media. In this talk. Dr. Luca Dal Zilio (NTU) explores recent advances in modeling poromechanical mechanisms that govern these phenomena.

Dr. Tais Sigaeva, University of Calgary Seminar – Dr. Tais Sigaeva | Aorta (and Skin) Biomechanics: The Role of Heterogeneity

26 June 2025 10:00 am
  • Venue: CEME 2202
  • Categories: Public, Seminar, Students
  • Tags: Structural Matter Seminar

This talk introduces a typical biomechanical workflow for the mechanical characterization and modeling of soft biological tissues. An overview of ongoing work in skin biomechanics will set the
stage for a focused discussion on the role of heterogeneity in the aorta.
