Undergraduate Flex Curriculum

Undergraduate Flex Curriculum

The Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program at UBC Vancouver is moving to a Flex Curriculum. Here is our 2022W guide to planning and registering for courses in the new curriculum:

Information Sessions

The videos below are recordings of our information sessions, which outline the changes to our degree requirements. Please watch the video relevant to your year of study, as flex curriculum requirements are different based on when you completed MECH 2.

If you completed MECH 2 in 2021W or later:

This information session was held June 27, 2022 for students who are newly registering for 3rd year courses.

If you completed MECH 2 in 2020W or earlier:

This information session was held July 5, 2022 for students who are partially through 3rd and 4th year courses, and are interested in the new flex curriculum.

Flex Curriculum Advising Worksheets:
Use the following worksheets to map out your Option requirements within the new flex curriculum:

Please note that there are only minor changes for the Aerospace and Mechatronics, so we have not created worksheets for those two Options. For Aerospace you need to replace APSC 450 with MECH 400 and replace ELEC 344 for MECH 368. For Mechatronics you need to replace APSC 450 with MECH 400.
