The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers public tours throughout the year. Our student-led tours typically take two hours, and include a tour around our facilities. We typically stop at one lab and one student team, where you will learn a bit about the research done in Mechanical Engineering and some of the great design opportunities that our students have. At the end of the tour there is an optional advising session where we will have program advisers to answer any questions you may have about the department or UBC Engineering.
The next tours will be:
February 17, 2017, 10:30 to 12:00
March 24, 2017, time TBA
To RSVP, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know your name, how many people will be joining you, and (if applicable) what grade you are in.
If you are interested in a private tour for a large group (e.g. a high school class), please contact Adrianna Eyking at email@example.com. We apologize that we are not able to host private tours for individuals.
The Faculty of Applied Science provides Engineering tours every Tuesday. These tours show labs and student teams from a variety of Engineering departments. For more information, visit engineering.ubc.ca/student-events.
In addition to tours, the Department of Mechanical Engineering conducts outreach to promote STEM and Mechanical Engineering as a career choice. We are able to host workshops for all age groups. In the past our outreach groups have built and tested wind turbines, boats, cars, and other devices. We have worked with Shad Valley, CEDAR, and other groups.
If you would like to discuss hosting an outreach event for your group, please contact Adrianna Eyking at firstname.lastname@example.org.
