UBC students win PACE competition with expandable vehicle

UBC MECH students have contributed to the design of an expandable vehicle that won the PACE Reconfigurable Shared Use Mobility System (RSMS) global competition. The futuristic vehicle, which is designed for use in ride-sharing services like Zipcar, took top prizes for market/client needs, interior design, product engineering, and manufacturability. These top awards led to the Overall PACE RSMS Award.

The design was the collaborative work of students from UBC, Hongik University (Korea), Northwestern University (USA), Tuskegee University (USA), Jilin University (China), and Instituto Politecnico Nacional (Mexico). The UBC students–Ajaydeep Singh, Harsh Sharma, Michael Liu, and Xuerui Sun–were responsible for the brake design and some of the market/client needs.
