UBC Engineering alumni team up to help families cope with autism

UBC has played a big role in launching companies like MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates, Westport Innovations, and most recently, Awake Labs, reports The Georgia Straight.

Awake Labs has developed a product that helps families cope with autism. It’s led by UBC Mechanical Engineering graduate Andrea Palmer and has roots from an entrepreneurship and engineering course at UBC. The company’s lead biomedical engineer, Paul Fijal, who is also a UBC alumnus, spoke at the TEDxEastVan event held April 23.
