RESEARCH

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is home to a successful and recognized research department, with numerous connections to international industry. There are over 200 graduate and 30 undergraduates working in our research labs, funded by over $11 million annually in government and industry grants. We have three Canadian Research Chairs, as well as six industry-funded research chairs and professorships.

Our research spans the fields of applied solid mechanics, biomechanics & medical devices, computational engineering, energy & environment, engineering education, fluid mechanics, manufacturing automation & robotics, mechanics & instrumentation, and naval architecture & marine engineering.
