Engineering Education

ENGINEERING EDUCATION

The Engineering Education area aims to develop, implement and disseminate innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning strategies to help engineering students achieve optimal learning outcomes. Our members actively contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) through conferences such as the Canadian Engineering Education Association and the American Society for Engineering Education. Group members provide institutional, regional, and national leadership in engineering education, taking on roles such as UBC First Year Chair, Vantage College Engineering Chair, BCcampus advisory committee member, Canadian Engineering Education Association Special Interest Group Chair, and Engineering Graduate Attribute Development (EGAD) Project committee member.

Cross-disciplinary collaborations are valued and include connections within engineering (Chemical and Biological Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering) and across campus (Health Promotion and Education, Sociology, Education). We also have national and international collaborations with educators and education researchers. Members attract funding from sources such as the UBC Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund, BCcampus, Westcoast Women in Engineering Science and Technology, and the UBC Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Seed Fund.
