With wildfire seasons getting longer and more intense, understanding wildfire smoke properties has never been more critical for understanding its impact on environment and human health. In this talk, guest speaker Dr. Andrey Khlystov shares his research on fire emissions using both controlled lab burns and real-world field measurements.
The week of June 22 to 27, 2025 over 780 marine engineering industry members from all over the world gathered in Vancouver for OMAE 2025. OMAE is the leading international conference connecting marine industry and academic research expertise, sharing innovation in ocean, offshore and arctic engineering fields with global industry.
Perseverance and discipline helped Mechanical Engineering alumna Emma Starr succeed both in varsity rowing and her degree. She shares her experiences through undergraduate studies and in her career electrifying aviation.
Alumnus Steve Zimmerman shares his journey from the Engineering Transfer Program to Mech 2, through undergraduate and master’s studies at UBC Mechanical Engineering, to his career with Blue Origin.
On May 29, 2025 we were excited and honoured to celebrate the accomplishments of all of our spring graduates, as well as award winners who were recognized for their academic, design, and leadership excellence!
