2013 Motion Metrics/ICICS Graduate Scholarship – Matthew Pan

Hello Everyone,

We are delighted to announce that the ICICS Graduate Affairs Committee has chosen Mechanical Engineering doctoral student Matthew Pan as the 2013 recipient of the Motion Metrics/ICICS Graduate Scholarship. Supervised by Professor Elizabeth Croft, Matthew is currently investigating unique methods of performing human–robot co-operative manipulation of objects, in the Collaborative Advanced Robotics and Intelligent Systems Laboratory (CARIS).

Motion Metrics International is an ICICS-incubated company founded by President and CEO Shahram Tafazoli in the late 1990s after completing his PhD in ECE at UBC. Now internationally successful, the company provides integrated sensing equipment to the open-pit mining sector.

On behalf of ICICS and Motion Metrics, we would like to congratulate Matthew on his promising research, and wish him continued success. We would also like to thank Shahram Tafazoli for conceiving of this award, and generously supporting it.
