One of UBC’s top teaching awards has been given to Department Of Mechanical Engineering faculty member Dr. Patrick Kirchen. The Killam Teaching Prize is an annual award that recognizes excellence in teaching, and winners are nominated by students, faculty and alumni within each faculty. Dr. Kirchen will be recognized officially as one of this year’s Killam Teaching Prize winners for the Faculty of Applied Science at the Mechanical Engineering graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 29th at 4 PM.
As well as his dedication to teaching as an instructor and as the Program Coordinator of the undergraduate Thermofluids Option, Dr. Kirchen is also a researcher with the Clean Energy Research Centre, where he works with undergraduate students and graduate researchers developing technologies that monitor and reduce emissions.
